Psalm 42:1-2
I came across the following poem while helping my younger sister with some of her schoolwork a year or two ago. It describes the beauty of a deer, one of the many amazing creatures that God created.
Such gentle things they are,
stepping discreetly over the chopped turf;
Or moving noiselessly through the woods,
their smooth flanks flecked with sunlight.
Their eyes are calm as forest pools,
Unguarded, calm, reflective:
The world is watched through sensitive nostrils.
And when the wind (unfelt by us)
warns them of danger, suddenly they are gone.
The woods are empty.
The barred sunlight strikes across trunks only and stippled leaves.

I love deer - they seem so delicate and majestic. The first couple of verses in Psalm 42 are so beautiful and display such a vivid scene in my mind. The lyrics of "As the Deer" are also beautiful and have so much meaning.
As the Deer
As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after Thee
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You.
Chorus: You alone are my strength, my shield
To You alone may my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship you
I want You more than gold or silver
Only You can satisfy.
You alone are the real joy Giver
And the apple of my eye.
You're my friend and You are my brother
Even though You are a king.
I love You more than any other,
So much more than anything.
