Scripture art is a very good way to remind yourself of what's truly important. All you have to do is read it. It can help you keep scripture in your heart, keep your actions and attitudes in check, and keep good thoughts in your mind. It's very important to keep our minds on the right things - all you would have to do is glance at the words on your Scripture Art to get your thoughts back on what's holy. "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things" (Philippians 4:8). It also seems as if God wants us to decorate our homes with His Word. "And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart....And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates" (Deuteronomy 6:6,9).

You will need: a canvas
old magazines, scrapbook paper, or some other decorative paper

mod podge

mod podge
- Paint the canvas a color that will complement the paper that you'll use.
- Choose a short verse, phrase, or song lyric that glorifies God.
- Type up the words you chose. Make sure it's the font and size that you'll want to use. Print it out - this will be your template.
- Using the template, cut letters out of decorative paper.
- Once your canvas is dry, mod podge the letters onto it.
- Brush mod podge over the entire canvas and let dry.
To cut out the letters, I taped my template over my paper (an old magazine page) and used my x-acto knife to cut straight through both layers. This worked nicely.
When you modpodge the letters onto the canvas, make sure the wrinkles are out (I failed to do this).
Now all you have to do is hang up your new artwork. Use it to glorify the Lord. "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him" (Colossians 3:17). (The two beautiful afghans that the canvas is on were made for me by my mother - an avid crocheter.)
Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, holy, holy, merciful and mighty!
God in three Persons, blessed Trinity!
